Inlays, crowns & veneers

Repair broken, cracked, worn or unsightly teeth with our Inlays, Crowns & Dental Veneers.

Inlays, Crowns & Dental Veneers are an inexpensive way of cosmetically repairing broken, cracked, worn or unsightly teeth. We use both traditional materials and the more advanced porcelain equivalents like Emax and Zirconium to create a great looking smile.

After an initial consultation with you we will discuss the most appropriate form of treatment.

Inlays & Onlays

An Inlay or Onlay is a porcelain filling (either part or full) bonded into place to protect the tooth from further damage whilst chewing and restores the tooth back to and healthy looking tooth.

Inlays and Onlays are custom made in our lab by our technician to fit into or over the tooth. They are used when there is insufficient tooth structure to support a directly placed filling.

This is carried out over two appointments, the first of which is to prepare the tooth, take impressions and place a temporary inlay. At the second appointment the permanent porcelain Inlay or Onlay is bonded to the tooth.

Cerec inlay/onlay:  You can also choose to have your restoration done in only one visit! Therefore no need for a 2nd appointment, no impressions, injection and no more temporary fillings needed. We understand your time is precious, and that is where our investment in the latest digital impression taking technology will benefit you.

Crowns

A Crown (also known as a “cap”) is a restoration to repair a tooth to its full size after a large portion of tooth fractures off or have been weakened by large filling.

There is also aesthetic considerations when doing crowns, but most crowns are needed due to a lack of remaining tooth structure to securely hold a filling. If a tooth is broken down or heavily filled, the crown is placed to protect the tooth from the high biting forces we exert on our teeth whilst eating.

Not all crowns are the same and we can provide gold crowns, porcelain bonded to gold crowns as well as the latest in the metal free alternatives that give truly lifelike results.

The latest advances in porcelain allows light to transmit through the crown, thereby creating a restoration that is undetectable from the other natural teeth in your smile. With the absence of any metal core on the inside of the crown you will not get the grey line that you often see on the margin of older traditional crowns.

Veneers

A Veneer is a thin layer of porcelain used to cover the front of a tooth.

Dental Veneers are considered for several reasons such as when the enamel has become worn, chipped or discoloured or the teeth have become misaligned.

Dental Veneers are extremely thin but once bonded to the tooth are unbelievably strong. They are able to block out undesirable colours, such as from a very dark underlying tooth and allow the beauty of the veneers to shine through. In our practice we frequently use Dental Veneers to create a smile that is natural and beautiful.

In most cases we carry out a diagnostic wax up where you can trial your dental veneers prior to going ahead with the definitive treatment.
